Owner and primary recording engineer at Diamondback Recording Studio, Michael Lance Lambert started recording and producing music and sound almost two decades ago. Being a musician himself as a vocalist for Ancient Cross as well as Witches Mark (most notably), chasing the dream was getting very costly. It was then in 2004 he decided to take the first step in self recording by starting with an inexpensive mic, a two channel interface and a lite version of Protools. After years of self recording and slowly improving his gear and knowledge, in 2009 he opened up a modest home studio called South Texas Viper Studio. For the next decade he honed his skills recording various local artists along with his numerous own singer/songwriter projects collaborating with some of South Texas’ finest.

Fast forward to 2024. After realizing that his chances of making it big in the music industry as a performing vocalist had slipped him by over the years, but yet very content with the foot print he had left in the music industry in his 20+ years as a vocalist, Michael’s love for music still strong as ever but in a different role as a producer and recording/sound engineer. So in 2024 he broke ground on a brand new studio with the intent on finding and helping new local talent chase the dream of having a career in the music industry.

Now in 2025, the brand new studio is open with an all new look and new name. Located on a private ranch in Elmendorf, Texas, Diamondback Studio is both cozy and has a unique creative vibe. The new studio is producing much better quality of recordings than ever. With help from high end gear (most artist on a budget dream of being able to use to record with). Including some of the music industry’s most popular guitars, guitar amps and cabinets as well as vintage and custom shops amps and cabinets. As well as industry standard outboard gear to get that high quality sound capture most seek. The studio also has connections with some of the best local instructors and producers standing behind us, as well as now having a foot in the door with some of music industry’s top sound engineers, DBS is ready to join you on your journey to creating music that will withstand the test of time.
